To make the most of this height advantage you need to eliminate the glare coming off the water.
The best way I have found to eliminate water glare is to wear polarized sunglasses and a performance fishing hoodie.
There is a side gap on most sunglasses, even wrap-around glasses have a small side gap. A fishing hoodie will protect your eyes from side glare and you will be able to see better.
